'delivers curriculum with humor, knowledge, compassion and clarity'
I am the youth coordinator and creative engagement facilitator at Intersections Media Opportunities for Youth Society, a non-profit charitable organization that was founded in 2009 to continue the legacy of William Vince (“Bill”), an Oscar- nominated Vancouver filmmaker and lifelong advocate for youth. Intersections’ mandate is to transition youth into long-term attachment to the workforce.
The Intersections Digital Media Workshop Program, supported by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia, started in 2009 to assist youth with barriers achieve long term employment. The barriers include, but are not limited to, financial hardship, mental health challenges, past trauma, lack of work experience and lack job skills.
The key component of our program is to deliver employment skills through a film-based curriculum that includes a variety of valuable certifications (Food Safe, First Aid, Serving It Right, WHMIS). To ensure successful outcomes for the participants, facilitators must be able to navigate the challenges that come with working with vulnerable populations. They must also be able to provide timely reporting and be flexible within a dynamic setting.
I have had the pleasure of watching Uli work with multitudes of our participants for several years now. He has a profound and natural gift for creating safe space in which all our participants can thrive and be successful. He delivers curriculum with humor, knowledge, compassion and clarity and meticulously delivers paperwork and certificates. I cannot recommend him enough as a certification facilitator for your organization.
